Today...

Today I cried, but only for a little Scared of a future that may never be Today I felt conflicted, stuck in the middle Between dreams in my heart and the reality I see Today I felt hopeful, but only for a little I remembered and then forgot how lucky I am to be me Today I felt strong, but only for a little Then my weaknesses crept into the seams Today I felt frustrated, but only for a little I can't change things I can't control Today I felt angry, but only for a little Wondering why this life takes such a toll But each passing feeling is only just that A feeling that passes and then falls flat They can cause tremendous joy and bring on great pain They can make us feel elated or make us feel insane But Today I am thankful, knowing we not our feelings And they do not define They only remind me of the need for the Divine I can move through those moments when my feelings overwhelm And know that these feelings are life's little hills God has allowed me the ability to feel So th...

Teacher T and Teacher P

Working at a middle school last week, I met Teacher T and Teacher P. Concerned with the lack of grade-level and reading level material for middle school science, Teacher T and Teacher P (just the start of their real names) were moved to action. They began to create their own curriculum. And what a curriculum they created! It is a content-rich, multimedia explosion of information: think MTV meets Isaac Newton. "We work 6:30 am 'till 6:30 pm on these lessons," Teacher P said. "We are the first ones here (at school) in the morning and the last one's to leave at night." I blinked, amazed at what happens when conviction moves to action. Noting the low-economic conditions of his 6th graders, Teacher T set up a student store in his classroom. Students earn "money" for attendance, promptness, various class jobs, and demonstrating thinking skills. In a nod to the real-world of purchasing, students may use their classroom "debit card" to exchange d...

Learn From Wisdom/Teach From The Heart A Minute In Time

Far away in another land… Lies the answer in someone else's hands At times, it's better to learn from someone who already knows Than trying for hours to compose That special letter, speech, event or song It could take only a minute instead of so long The best of the best have learned from their mentor They learned how to go within to their center The core inside that helps you stay balanced The one that encourages you to share your talents When we learn from another it's quicker at that We then can pass it on in a drop of a hat So learn from the masters and take it all in The more you do this the more you will win Knowledge and Wisdom - what wonderful things The idea of it makes me feel as if I have wings So I share with you how I have learned Through others experiences whose lives have turned I then took my own and shared with others Knowing that the Universe is all sisters and brothers The more people we help, the better we feel It makes this bonding of the Universe seem ...

Allan Paul, a final year Engineering Student, was considered a safe driver by all who knew him. One sunny morning, Allan was on his way home from his friend's house on his favourite bike. All of a sudden, due to a major mistake by a truck driver near a traffic signal, Allan's bike collided with the huge truck. Poor Allan lost his legs and was laying in the middle of the road, trembling. He cried out for help but no one bothered to pick him up. They were afraid of the consequences they could face if they gave Allan a helping hand. There was a huge crowd gathering, watching Allan like he was an alien. Allan kept crying and shouting aloud and finally he crawled to the sidewalk all by himself. Then he saw a man getting out of a car. Allan pleaded with him and cried out, "Please help me. I want to live. Save me, I am dying". The man ran over and helped. He picked up Allan and took him to the hospital. Allan gave him his contact number and the man then called Allan's ho...
