(cont... after a short sexy break......) 6. Protect our troops. Today the government issues "Support our Troops" paraphernalia; however government-issued brochures and videos featured a slightly different slogan during the WWII era – "Don't forget – Put it on before you put it in." During the Second World War, many soldiers returned home with venereal diseases, costing the government millions of dollars in medical expenses. 7. Work it. Hate the gym? You burn about 200 calories during 30 minutes of active sex. 8. What a tease! Burlesque costumes are the epitome of sexy – think Dita Von Teese and lingerie; however, a few centuries ago, the outfits had a slightly different purpose. According to the Museum of Sex, merkins (the bottom half of burlesque costumes) were originally created as "pubic wigs" for 15th century prostitutes. The designs helped hide pubic lice and syphilis symptoms. Make sure to share this information with your boyfriend the next time ...

Today...

Today I cried, but only for a little Scared of a future that may never be Today I felt conflicted, stuck in the middle Between dreams in my heart and the reality I see Today I felt hopeful, but only for a little I remembered and then forgot how lucky I am to be me Today I felt strong, but only for a little Then my weaknesses crept into the seams Today I felt frustrated, but only for a little I can't change things I can't control Today I felt angry, but only for a little Wondering why this life takes such a toll But each passing feeling is only just that A feeling that passes and then falls flat They can cause tremendous joy and bring on great pain They can make us feel elated or make us feel insane But Today I am thankful, knowing we not our feelings And they do not define They only remind me of the need for the Divine I can move through those moments when my feelings overwhelm And know that these feelings are life's little hills God has allowed me the ability to feel So th...

Teacher T and Teacher P

Working at a middle school last week, I met Teacher T and Teacher P. Concerned with the lack of grade-level and reading level material for middle school science, Teacher T and Teacher P (just the start of their real names) were moved to action. They began to create their own curriculum. And what a curriculum they created! It is a content-rich, multimedia explosion of information: think MTV meets Isaac Newton. "We work 6:30 am 'till 6:30 pm on these lessons," Teacher P said. "We are the first ones here (at school) in the morning and the last one's to leave at night." I blinked, amazed at what happens when conviction moves to action. Noting the low-economic conditions of his 6th graders, Teacher T set up a student store in his classroom. Students earn "money" for attendance, promptness, various class jobs, and demonstrating thinking skills. In a nod to the real-world of purchasing, students may use their classroom "debit card" to exchange d...

Learn From Wisdom/Teach From The Heart A Minute In Time

Far away in another land… Lies the answer in someone else's hands At times, it's better to learn from someone who already knows Than trying for hours to compose That special letter, speech, event or song It could take only a minute instead of so long The best of the best have learned from their mentor They learned how to go within to their center The core inside that helps you stay balanced The one that encourages you to share your talents When we learn from another it's quicker at that We then can pass it on in a drop of a hat So learn from the masters and take it all in The more you do this the more you will win Knowledge and Wisdom - what wonderful things The idea of it makes me feel as if I have wings So I share with you how I have learned Through others experiences whose lives have turned I then took my own and shared with others Knowing that the Universe is all sisters and brothers The more people we help, the better we feel It makes this bonding of the Universe seem ...

Keep Helping Others; The World Needs Us

Allan Paul, a final year Engineering Student, was considered a safe driver by all who knew him. One sunny morning, Allan was on his way home from his friend's house on his favourite bike. All of a sudden, due to a major mistake by a truck driver near a traffic signal, Allan's bike collided with the huge truck. Poor Allan lost his legs and was laying in the middle of the road, trembling. He cried out for help but no one bothered to pick him up. They were afraid of the consequences they could face if they gave Allan a helping hand. There was a huge crowd gathering, watching Allan like he was an alien. Allan kept crying and shouting aloud and finally he crawled to the sidewalk all by himself. Then he saw a man getting out of a car. Allan pleaded with him and cried out, "Please help me. I want to live. Save me, I am dying". The man ran over and helped. He picked up Allan and took him to the hospital. Allan gave him his contact number and the man then called Allan's ho...

False Reality, False Illusions

How quickly we fall under the belief of false illusions. We are so easily taken and so gullible to believe that our reality is one in which we have to be suffering, that our reality is one in which I must be a victim of some sort, otherwise where and how do I go about getting my needs met, who next will hear my story? My question is: whose story is it? Aren't we all part of the same story? Aren't we all just a sum of the whole? A part of the sum is each equally important, but the more important part of the equation is the whole, the end product. As in nature, one petal is not more important than the whole flower, one tree not greater than a grand forest. One raindrop is not more effective than the whole storm, one wave does not define the depth of the ocean. One ray of sun is not brighter than the whole sun and one grain of sand is not better than the whole beach. In our false reality, each of us is the main character in our story, but the truth is that there are no main charac...

If I Can Do It, Anyone Can!

I'm often asked "Glenn, you're a Motivational Speaker with two college degrees, and a multi-million dollar sales company, but you were once a high school dropout. What made you go back to school and do all you've done?" Since this is so often asked, I thought I'd put it here for all to read. Please allow me to break it down for you as simply as possible. (An abridged version.) I was kicked out of HS when I was 16-Y-O. Being ignorant back then, I thought it was cool. It allowed more time for a venture that made me money -- though it wasn't legal. Someone told me of the GED, which I took -- twice -- in order to pass. Oh well, at least I passed. When I was 19-Y-O, I was seeing this college chick who said, "If you couldn't even get a high school diploma, then you're stupid!" It bothered me that she said I was stupid. I said to myself that I'd show her! I went to an adult education school, which was a branch of the Poway Unified School Dis...

You Are Here

Ginny and I rode the subway from Brooklyn to Manhattan. We exited the tunnel, burst into bright sunshine, and began to cross the Manhattan Bridge into lower Manhattan. Through the windows, we watched the city grow larger. Skyscrapers stretched to the scattered clouds above them. It was intimidating - miles of buildings - a wall of concrete and glass. The river fell below and behind us. We plunged underneath the city and to our transfer point at West 4TH street. We walked off the train and looked around. The station had three levels of tracks - all underground. "Which way do we go?" I asked. We climbed the stairs to the next level. Ginny pointed. "Look! There's a subway map over there." Ginny pointed. "I see it." We walked up to the six-foot high display with the map of the New York City subway on it. Colored lines, indicating the various subway lines, crisscrossed the map. It looked like someone had spilled multicolored spaghetti over the face of it. I...

"Intruder" and an "Infiltrator"? English Edification Enrichment (34)

What is the difference between an "intruder" and an "infiltrator"? An "intruder" is someone who enters another person's property illegally - without the owner's consent. The act of intrusion may be accidental or deliberate. A thief who enters your house is an example of an individual who intrudes on your property intentionally. Sometimes when you go out on long walks you may intrude on someone else's property without being aware of it. Maybe you didn't see the sign that said, "Private Property: Keep Out". Whether you enter another person's property intentionally or accidentally, the moment you enter it, you have become an intruder. Technically, you are breaking the law. * The police shot the intruder. * The intruders were caught as soon as they crossed the border. An "infiltrator" is someone who enters a country or an organization without the others being aware of it. The individual enters secretly and he uses a lot ...

Benefits of Personal Development

Take a good look in the mirror right now. The person you see staring back is the only one responsible for your success or failure. I'm absolutely serious. You need to realize right now that your success boils down to one thing - YOU! True freedom and success comes at a price. Nothing worthwhile comes without effort. Get excited about paying the price for success now instead of paying the price for the rest of your life for mediocrity. I believe the personal development road is an invitation that is sent to all but recognized by few. It seems to me that those on the personal development road often times are somehow invited into a special banquet hall to take a sneak look at what is possible. This glimpse then invites those rare questions that most people simply don't ask themselves. What if I decide to set and reach higher goals? What if I decide to go for my dreams? What if I can change certain unpleasant things about myself? What if I can significantly make a difference in the...

Use Empowering Words When You Talk to Yourself

How do you talk to yourself? Do you use the words "can't", "won't", "don't need to", "why try"? Many people do. Do you find that what you say to yourself turns out to be true? Why is this? You see your brain is like a computer that you feed each day. It doesn't know always know what's real or not unless you tell it. Example: If someone you love has hurt you, you may tell yourself that all people who love you will probably hurt you too. Your brain just files this information for reference, it's data, little zeroes and ones and no column that asks "true or not true?" Now your brain thinks, based on what you told it, that everyone you'll ever love will hurt you. How do you think you will respond the next time you get hurt? Right!! Now, what if we instead told our brain: "Okay this person ripped my heart out - but that's only one person. I'm lovable and have many loving people in my life who are not ...

My Red Dress Day

I woke up one day in a "down", sad mood. I was going to work that morning and had to dress up for my job. With the way I was feeling, I believe most people would have chosen dark and drab colored clothing. Believe me, that was my first thought. "Grab your ugliest dress to go with your ugly feelings." Well, I eventually decided on a fancy red dress. I thought, "Well if I can't feel good, I will at least try to look good, and maybe make someone else feel better." It was amazing how my outlook got better just by putting that dress on. During the course of the day, many people came up to me and commented on my red dress and how nice I looked. It didn't take long and my spirits started to soar! Next time you're in a depression, put on a fancy outfit and feel the sadness wash away.

The Seed

Once upon a time, there was a seed and because it was only a seed, nobody cared to notice it. Thus, gripped by a sense of inferiority, the seed gave no importance to his existence. Then one day, a wind picked him up - randomly or otherwise he didn't know - and threw him mercilessly on an open field under the sweltering sun. He was confused. Why would anything do such a thing? But instead of any copasetic answers, he was provided with rain (in addition to sunlight); sometimes in drizzles and sometimes in torrents. Meanwhile time flew and years later he saw a traveler sitting by his side. "Thank you God for this. I really needed some rest," he heard the traveler say. "What are you talking about?" The seed promptly asked. He thought the man was making fun of him. Sure, he had witnessed many people sitting by his side - more so in recent years - but no one ever spoke to him like that. "Who is this?" The man was startled. "This is me. The seed." ...

Letting Go Of Regrets To Make Better Choices

Conceptualizing is always the best way to determine each choice that you make. When you do this, you have to visualize the possible outcome or circumstances that might occur if you make that choice. There are many different possible circumstances to each choice. The best choices are always made when you are being honest to yourself and to others. If you happen to make any other choice, it will surely not flow consistently and in a normal pattern, therefore the results will not be consistent and normal. The determination of these factors is something only you can control at the given moment, and each moment varies in complexity. We have all made disastrous decisions in our lifetimes and I am sure that there may be some regrets that are attached to those decisions. You shall not let these past decisions affect you anymore. The energy that is attached to your regrets will encompass any of your future choices and will assure the same type of results. Letting go of such regrets will allow y...

Sometimes The Day Comes

Sometimes the day comes when you try your level best to achieve something but you fail Sometimes the day comes when nobody understands you and you feel that you are isolated from the world Sometimes the day comes when you want to help the needy but find yourself unable to because of some reasons Sometimes the day comes when you are hungry and have a few bucks but you see the child laborers and buy food for them Sometimes the day comes when Mom comes up with one answer and Father with another and you have to make your own decision Sometimes the day comes when you see that some people ditch others because of their selfishness Sometimes the day comes when you want to tell something to your parents but find yourself unable to because you think that they might get hurt or misunderstand you Sometimes the day comes when your friends drift apart not because you were not able to understand them but because they were not able to understand you Sometimes the day comes when you want to smile but c...

Ships called "She"? English Edification Enrichment (33)

Image
Why are ships called "she"? There are several explanations for this. Some say during the early days of sailing every ship was always dedicated to some goddess, and as a result the ship was referred to as "she". Another theory is that the crew always thought the ship represented their mother and as a result treated it with a great deal of respect. In most Romance languages the ship is always referred to as "she" and it is quite possible that English sailors began to adopt this practice as well. Thanks & Regards.

At One PART:2

I heard a Sufi story once: A lover went to visit his beloved. He knocked on her door and his beloved called out "Who is there?" "It is I, Rumi, your lover," he replied. "Go away," she said, "There is no room in here for two of us!" He was baffled, but went away and studied, meditated, learned, burned, unlearned and eventually surrendered and let loads of inner ego baggage go. A few months later he came back to see his beloved. Again he knocked on her door and again she called out "Who's there?" But this time his reply was different. "It is you," he said. The door opened and he was welcomed in. He had learned the secret; he had remembered. The word 'sin' originally means 'to forget' or 'forgetfulness' and so to be forgiven, to be redeemed, to be atoned, we have to remember something. We have to remember the truth that is at the core of who and what we really are, the truth that's in the marrow of...

At One PART:1

At One means there is only One reality. "Love alone is capable of uniting living beings in such a way as to complete and fulfill them, for it alone takes them and joins them to what is deepest within themselves" - Teilhard de Chardin It is, as Longfellow said, "the thread of all sustaining beauty that runs through all and doth all unite". After a long, long time...many years of soul searching', study and self-discovery I've finally 'got it' and now understand the difference between the deepest agony and misery of the human condition… and the greatest joy! I 'know', from my own experience, that the difference is simply between feeling separate, isolated, lonely, lost, and feeling 'at-one', whole, home. I think most people, if not all, live with a kind of homesickness; a sweet nostalgia which they can't quite put their finger on as if they were once in a place that they can't quite remember but desperately, somehow, want to get ...

Learning To Listen

We all know what it's like to get that phone call in the middle of the night. This night's call was no different. Jerking up to the ringing summons, I focused on the red illuminated numbers of my clock. Midnight. Panicky thoughts filled my sleep-dazed mind as I grabbed the receiver. "Hello?" My heart pounded; I gripped the phone tighter and eyed my husband, who was now turning to face my side of the bed. "Mama?" I could hardly hear the whisper over the static. But my thoughts immediately went to my daughter. When the desperate sound of a young crying voice became clearer on the line, I grabbed for my husband and squeezed his wrist. "Mama, I know it's late, but don't...don't say anything, until I finish. And before you ask, yes, I've been drinking. I nearly ran off the road a few miles back and..." I drew in a sharp shallow breath, released my husband and pressed my hand against my forehead. Sleep still fogged my mind, and I attempte...
