Stay Cool Man

If you choose to go with an OEM processor or are not happy with the heatsink and fan that come with the processor you have chosen, you can always buy a better one. The heatsink and fan, usually bought as a combo, removes excess heat generated by the processor. This allows the CPU to perform at its best at all times.

These cooling devices are rated based on certain criteria. First is their thermal resistance. This is the ability to remove heat from the CPU. The second is airflow, meaning the ability of the fan to cool the heatsink and processor. The final measuring stick is the amount of noise generated by CPU cooling fans.

Installing the highest quality combination of these cooling devices will keep the processor and motherboard at a good temperature, avoiding overheating or crashing. If you take these steps to ensure that motherboard and CPU are in good condition, the components interfaced with them will be better off for it.
