What is the difference between "tasty" and "tasteful"?


The word "tasty" is generally used when one is talking about food. When you say that something is "tasty" what you mean is that it smells and tastes good; it is appetizing.


Here are a few examples,

* Try the soup, Victor. It is very tasty.
* The food that was served at the party was very tasty.


The word "tasteful", on the other hand, is not used in the context of food. . When you say that something is tasteful what you are implying is that it is very elegant or attractive. It is in good taste. This is a word that is normally used when referring to the manner in which something has been furnished or decorated.

Here are a few examples.
* The hotel has been tastefully furnished.
* Though Vibha spent a lot of money, she has a tastefully decorated home.
